Flexible, High-Speed Laser Ablation

LaserCell systems offer configurability with a diverse selection of laser parameters for optimized material ablation, including a range of pulse and wavelength options. Nine part loading configurations enable production flexibility, allowing for optimal processing across a wide variety of part dimensions.

Featuring single and dual 6-axis robot configurations, LaserCell can bring a laser cleaning head to a stationary part or move heavy and complex parts beneath a static cleaning head. With laser process development and programming services from IPG, your system can be optimized for faster cycle times for a variety of different application requirements.

High-Speed, Non-Contact Material Removal

The use of a scanned laser beam vaporizes, sublimates, or quickly burns away surface contaminants. Tight control of laser depth penetration and short pulse durations ensure that only the surface layer is removed with no contamination or degradation of the underlying material.

Laser ablation is a non-contact, highly repeatable process. Productivity and efficiency can be maximized by tuning laser parameters to the application.

Precision Surface Preparation

  • Impove weld quality by pre-cleaning with no substrate damage
  • Increase adhesion with pre-adhesive cleaning or surface texturing
  • Increase coating life by pre-cleaning before EB-PVD and plasma spray coating
  • Strip coated parts for quick repair without affecting the underlying part
  • Clean dirt, scale, and oxide from rotating components for inspection and repair
  • Simplify mold maintenance by removing release agents and residuals
