Mid Power CW Fiber Lasers

IPG offers a wide selection of continuous wave (CW)

fiber lasers between 100 W and 4 kW for commercial

and scientific applications. These lasers combine

rugged industrial design and maintenance-free

operation with perfect beam mode, high

power and pointing stability. Laser

power can be adjusted over a wide

range without affecting optical

parameters. The lasers are

packaged as OEM modules

for easy integration or

19” rack units for end

users.

Mid Power CW Fiber Lasers

IPG’s mid power CW fiber lasers cover output power range from 100 to 4000 W and feature a wide range of operating wavelengths, single-mode and multi-mode options, low amplitude noise, high stability and extremely long pump diode lifetime. Lasers are typically air-cooled up to 500 W average power. Compact water-cooled units are also available for average powers up to 4 kW. Redesigned electronics offers extended control functionality. The lasers are available with a wide variety of fiber terminations or collimation optics.

In the near infrared, from 1 to 2 µm, CW Ytterbium, Erbium, Thulium and Raman fiber lasers provide output in the 100 W to 4 kW range. Other CW lasers operating in mid-power range are Diode Lasers and CW Fiber Amplifiers.

Higher kW-classs output powers are available for Ytterbium (1 μm), Erbium (1.5 μm) and Thulium (2 μm) lasers in 1 kW-120 kW CW fiber laser family. Green GLPN Quasi-CW high repetition rate lasers suitable for many CW applications are also available in 100-1000 W power range.

Beam Mode Quality:
Depending on the application requirements, the CW lasers in mid-power range are offered with either single-mode or multi-mode beam quality. Due to absence of thermal lensing refractive index gradients in the laser cavity, fiber lasers maintain beam mode quality and divergence when the output power is adjusted. This is not the case with DPSS bulk lasers which are typically optimized to run at nominal power level.

Polarization:
The CW fiber lasers in the mid power range are typically offered with random polarization; linear polarization is an option. We also offer linearly polarized ytterbium CW fiber amplifiers up to 3 kW. Please contact your IPG Photonics representative if linear polarization is required. 

Direct Modulation:
Direct power modulation in the kHz range is a standard feature.

Power Stability
Typical power stability is <1% over 4 hours under stable environmental conditions.

Cooling
YLM modules are air cooled up to 400 W output power, YLR rack unit lasers are air cooled up to 700 W. TLR-200 is water cooled.

Packaging
The lasers are packaged as either OEM modules or as 19” rack mountable units. OEM modules require a DC power source and control electronics, rack mounted units require single-phase or 3-phase 50-60 Hz power source and have built-in control electronics. OEM modules are controlled externally, typically through RS-232. The front panel laser power controls and LCD display can be a standard feature or an option on rack-mounted units. Some rack-mounted models come without the front panel controls and LCD display in a standard version. Please discuss your requirements with an IPG Representative.
