Fiber Beam Delivery

IPG offers delivery and process fibers of various length and
core diameters as well as square profile fibers.

Feeding fibers are available at 50, 100, 200 and 300 μm
fiber core diameters. Process fibers are available at
100, 150, 200, 300, 400, 600, 800 and 1,000 μm fiber
core diameters with lengths up to 100 meters.

The fibers are configured with QBH compatible

HLC or QD compatible LCA bayonets and adaptors.

Custom connectors, custom process lengths and
diameters, as well as square profile fibers
are available upon request.

IPG high power fiber lasers feature unbeatable beam mode quality in comparison with solid-state lasers. Fiber lasers also are very flexible and adaptable with ability to be optimized for various applications requiring different brightness and spot size. To completely utilize the flexibility of fiber lasers, user purchases a laser with a permanently built in feeding fiber of a certain core diameter*, starting from 50 microns. The core diameter of the feeding fiber places the limit on the maximum brightness provided by the laser.

In some instances, particularly when a laser is dedicated to a single work cell, the feeding fiber can be connected directly to a process head. However, often, when a high power kW class laser is used in one or more applications in time or energy share mode, the feeding fiber is coupled to one or several process heads through process fibers and a coupler, a beam shutter or a beam switch. The user can then choose the core diameter of the process fiber to match the requirements of the current application for brightness and beam spot size.
